Zoom: Telling stories that make a difference

Zoom: Telling stories that make a difference

Founded in 2019, ZOOM is an independent production company based in Modena, Italy. We create films, documentaries and visual content that explore social themes, personal narratives and collective change. From our very first steps, we have believed in the power of storytelling to open up new ways of seeing and connecting.

Our Approach

What sets us apart is our commitment to community engagement, care and accessibility. Since 2020, we have focused on producing creative documentaries with a strong social impact, while also working on educational projects that bring visual literacy into schools and companies. Our goal is to make cinema not only a form of expression, but also a tool for growth, participation and dialogue.

Our Projects

Our first feature documentary, Ugualmente diversi/Equally Different, reflects this vision. A deeply personal film that challenges the binary between "normal" and "different", it was selected as a work-in-progress by Visioni Incontra and had its premiere at the international documentary festival Visioni dal Mondo with the patronage of the European Parliament, European Commission and the Italian Ministry for Disabilities. The film has been endorsed by several national disability rights associations and is now touring schools with screenings, workshops and collective discussions with students and teachers.

Our second major project, Battiti al Cretto/Heartbeats at the Cretto, is currently in post-production and continues our path of socially engaged cinema.

Beyond Cinema: Education and Wellbeing

We are expanding into new areas: education, corporate wellbeing and team-building experiences. Starting from the language of cinema and from the participatory approach developed through our creative documentaries, Zoom creates visual education labs for schools and young people, as well as workplace storytelling projects for companies.
Through audiovisual storytelling, participatory workshops and collective creative processes, these programs support employee wellbeing, team building, participatory engagement and social impact.

At ZOOM, we believe that every story can be a bridge and every image a chance to look closer. We work to amplify underrepresented voices, foster dialogue and create shared experiences that stay with you long after the credits roll.

Federika Ponnetti

Federika Ponnetti is the founder and creative force behind Zoom. She came to documentary filmmaking through an unconventional path that includes ten years as a lawyer, the successful Monsieurcucu children’s fashion brand, and a Master’s in Contemporary Image, at FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, that oriented her toward video art and socially engaged cinema.

Her directorial debut Ugualmente Diversi/Equally different marks her first feature film as author, director, and producer and has been lauded for its accessible storytelling for all - blind, deaf and neurodivergent people - and ethic and sustainable production practices. Her second work, Battiti al Cretto/Heartbeats at the Cretto, blends performance, memory, and the transformative power of art in post-trauma contexts. She has participated in prestigious training programs such as ItalianDocScreenings (2020), the Forward Producers Lab (2021), and the Zalab School of Participatory Video (2022). Since 2023, she has also been the recipient of a national grant for female entrepreneurship. Federika continues to explore new intersections between film, education, and participatory activism, often working with underrepresented communities and embracing hybrid formats that range from video art to documentary and VR.
